Liquid Ideas to open Melbourne office

Stuart Gregor

Gregor: "It’s just brilliant to go back to where it all started"

One of Australia’s top consumer public relations agencies, Liquid Ideas, is opening for business in Melbourne.

Liquid Ideas Melbourne will be staffed initially by people from the agency’s Sydney operation, but founder Stuart Gregor told Mumbrella he is looking for talent in Melbourne at all levels of seniority.

The recruitment drive begins mid-October, with a view to having the agency up and running by February next year.

Gregor told Mumbrella: “It goes without saying this opportunity has been brought to fruition following the appointment of Samantha to effectively run the business out of Sydney – it means I can put considerable effort into growing the Melbourne office. I intend to be in Melbourne as often as possible in 2013.”

Gregor brought in Samantha Allen, whom he described as “quite possibly the best credentialed public relations professional in Australia”, from Ogilvy PR in New York in May.

Gregor said of the launch: “We do an enormous amount of work with our Melbourne clients, and an equally enormous amount of travelling and to be honest from a personal point of view it’s just brilliant  to go back to where it all started. To set up shop 13 years after we started the business in a bedroom in Footscray is a lovely bit of symmetry. I just hope the new offices are slightly better than the original.”

The launch comes off the back of new business wins out of Melbourne, including retainer work with the Coles Liquor Group – which the agency won after a five-way pitch in September – a broader remit across Carlton & United Breweries and ongoing work with Treasury Wine Estates and Peter’s Ice Cream.
