Head of Fairfax local and regional papers Nic Cola to depart

Nic Cola director of Fairfax’s Australian Community Media (ACM) and one of the company’s top digital executives is to depart the publisher.

Cola has been director of ACM, which publishes Fairfax’s regional, agricultural and local titles, since October of last year.

In announcing the departure Allen Williams, managing director of Australian Publishing Media, which is responsible for all of Fairfax’s newspapers said: “Nic is a highly talented and long-serving Fairfax executive who has worked in a variety roles in the business.

“Nic is an incredibly passionate, digitally-driven media executive who has made an immense contribution to Fairfax. We wish him every success for his future.”

Cola, whose previous roles include director of transformations, CEO of marketplaces which included most of the company’s online properties such Drive, My Career, Domain, RSVP and Stayz and prior to that COO of Fairfax digital, will depart at the end of June.

According to Williams’s email, John Angilley, who is head of business planning and analytics at Australian Publishing Media, will have oversight of Australian Community Media until the conclusion of a review which is currently underway within Fairfax.

“The next step in the review will involve forming a working group of representatives across the business. John brings valuable insights, expertise and energy to this important role and I want him to be fully focused on this work,” wrote Williams.

The changes also see Lorna Raine, who is program director transformation take on many of Angilley’s responsibilities.
