Lore takes almost $100,000 at UK box office on opening weekend

An Australian-British-German co-production has made nearly $100,000 at the UK box office on its opening weekend.

Lore opened across 20 screens to take £65,000, with a screen average of £3250 and what Australian producer Liz Watts told Mumbrella was “a really good result.”

The post World War Two drama film, directed by Australian director Cate Shortland, also opened in France on nine screens with 4106 admissions. The film would be bumped to 11 screens this week.

Watts, producing under the Porchlight Films banner, told Mumbrella: “We’re extremely pleased on the UK opening and both countries have had universally excellent reviews.”

The film opened in the US three weekends ago and its current accumulative figure stands at US$125,000 or AU$122,000 across eight screens.
