Louise Evans quits The Australian after seven months as commercial editor

The Australia’s commercial editor Louise Evans has resigned after just seven months in the role.

The role was created for Evans in September – to “bridge the gap between editorial and the commercial side of the business” – just as the newspaper was readying itself to turn on its paywall.

Evans would not comment on the reasons for her departure. News Limited also declined to comment, but told Mumbrella: “We wish her well”.

Evans has spent a decade at The Australian in a number of senior roles – national deputy chief of staff, features editor, sports editor, columnist and olympic editor. She has also worked at Fairfax and AAP.

Evans took on the commercial editor role after a stint as managing editor.
