WHO Magazine editor Shane Sutton departs

WHO Magazine editor, Shane Sutton, has departed the publication after two years in the role.

Sutton joined the Pacific Magazines owned publication as deputy editor in 2008, before being appointed editor of the publication in 2015.

Prior to WHO, Sutton was editor-in-chief of Pacific Magazine’s Famous. He has also worked in roles across Woman’s Day and New Idea.

In an internal email to staff, Pacific Magazines CEO Gereurd Roberts, said Sutton will leave to “pursue other projects.”

“On behalf of the team and the company we would like to sincerely thank Shane for his contribution to both WHO and Pacific, and we wish him well in his next endeavours,” Roberts said.

He added Amy Reedy, WHO’s deputy editor, would step in to manage the brand until a permanent replacement had been locked in.

Sutton said working with WHO was a “career highlight”.

“As an editor I am immensely proud of the exclusive stories we have told and the position WHO currently holds in this competitive market as the leader in the celebrity weekly category,” Sutton said.

“I want to thank the entire dedicated WHO team for their ongoing pursuit of excellence in telling compelling celebrity, human interest and crime stories every single week.”

The news comes two months after Nicole Byers, former editor of Bauer Media’s competing title, OK! Magazine, took the helm at The Australian Women’s Weekly (AWW) and was replaced  by deputy editor Lucy Walker.
