Global marketing conference to be held in Sydney

The World Federation of Advertisers’ is to hold its global conference in Sydney next March, the first time the event has been held in Australia in 15 years.

The Australian Association of National Advertisers acting CEO Alina Bain said: “NSW alone is home to around 4,000 advertising companies, so it made sense for the AANA to pursue the bid to host the event in 2014. The event will certainly put Australian marketers on the global map.”

The conference usually attracts around 400 marketing professionals and has been held in Brussels, New York and Beijing. Speakers have included global chief marketing officers from companies such as AB InBev, Coca-Cola, Johnson & Johnson, Unilever and Visa.

The managing director of the WFA, Stephan Loerke, said: “The AANA put forward a compelling case for hosting the conference and the WFA team and its members are very excited about our trip to Sydney.

“We’ll be bringing some of the heavyweights of the global marketing business.”
