Isnt it obvious why?
Nobody cares about the X Factor anymore!
Plus the show has been going for 6 months…. do they really expect an engaged audience at the end of that?!

The old problem still being ignored.
The defunct British company J A Prestwich, used to make clockwork cine cameras, and later magnificent racing engines. Having started out in the late 18 hundreds, the company collapsed overnight in 1963, because it had never bothered to change its product, which until then had been the best and most popular in the world.
There is an old rule in the theatre, advising against pulling the same act twice, and warns that should one be lucky and get away with it, never to go there a third time. Even in the case of a popular and recurring gag, there must be a fresh approach to it each time, and the repetition must be used sparingly.
Television is theatre, there are rules, rules that may, with caution, be broken; but rules nevertheless.

Why are networks still pushing this format?
Nobody gives a toss any more.

Its good and bad news. Good in that 1 million is a decent chunk of the audience. Bad in that it shows how rapidly the TV audience is shrinking.

Talent shows have always been on TV, radio before then, and the stage before then.
Does anyone know why the total TV audience is shrinking ? It’s not going to cable.

Au contraire Richard Moss! I was completely absorbed by the Villiers Engineering Company in 1957 and Villiers itself was taken over by Manganese Bronze Bearings.
Our engineering works in Northumberland Park closed in 1963, but it’s all a moot point now anyway as in October 2012, Manganese entered administration, having not made a profit since 2007.

@john,
I asked this question a while ago and got no response.
What are the viewing figures over the past 15 year in total?
Where are they going… online. I was part of the TV generation, i turn it on when i get home and turn it off when i go to bed, i was always engaged with the tv. But now, i only turn it on, if there is something specific to watch, and ill turn off and engage with the internet when the item of interest has finished.

Compared to previous years, I never really watched X Factor much this year. The appeal of the program to me has been on the wane. Maybe Seven should rejig the format for next year or take a year off? As for Marlisa Punzalan, good luck to her, but I won’t be buying her music – that style of pop just doesn’t interest me and there are so many other singers with that style of delivery and genre out there. I’m not surprised by the falling viewer numbers.
