Masterchef and the ultimate clumsiness of being
Many pretentious words have been written about Masterchef. But this sentence from sociology professor John Carroll, published in the Weekend Australian, may take some beating:
“The whole self was on display. A bad dish was a manifestation of some ultimate clumsiness of being. That the focus was food gave a special sensual bite to critical assessment: a failed meal is literally, and not just metaphorically, disgusting.”
Whilst watching #masterchef I saw a black monolith and realized I could use a whisk as both a tool and a weapon …

John Carrol was on his horse and using Masterchef to have a rant about the education system but his observations about the apprentice/master pedagogical relationship are largely true. The meaning of the sentence is not at first apparent but makes total sense now that I reread it, having read the article.
