Masterchef heads for strong series finish

Finals week of Masterchef got off to a strong start for Ten on Sunday night, with the show dominating in the key advertising demographics of 16-39, 18-49 and 25-54.

The show rated well ahead of any other in each demo.

In 16-39, it pulled in an audience of 582,000 – 76% bigger than the next show which was Ten’s Modern Family with 330,000.

In 18-49, Masterchef pulled in 813,000 – 47% bigger than Nine’s 60 minutes which placed second in the demo according to preliminary overnight metro ratings from OzTam.

And in 25-54, it pulled in 797,000 – 30% ahead of 60 Minutes.

Masterchef runs until Wednesday night, with Masterchef All-Stars due to start on Thursday.

In total people, Seven dominated, with Seven News rating 1.536m, followed by double episodes of Downton Abbey rating 1.527m and 1.501m. Masterchef was fourth with 1.454m.

Nine’s best performer was Nine News with 1.399m.

In the battle of breakfast, Seven’s Sunrise beat Nine’s Today by 372,000 to 303,000.
