MasterChef is a Monday winner for Ten

MasterChef had another big Monday night for Ten, pulling in a metro TV audience of more than 1.7m.

Although slightly down on last week’s public holiday-fuelled 1.8m, the show still blew away everything else in its timeslot and helped the network to a win for the night.

Meanwhile, Nine’s Sea Patrol had another strong outing, pulling in an audience of nearly 1.4m, according to preliminary ratings from OzTam.

Last night’s share: Ten 26.9%; Nine 25.9%; Seven 25%; ABC 16.5%; SBS 5.8%.

So far this ratings week, Ten has a narrow lead of 27% to Nine’s 26% and Seven’s 25.2%. Ten will be hoping to stretch that lead tonight with Talkin Bout Your generation turning into another ratings banker for the network.

Meanwhile, Seven will be hoping to pull back from third to second after this evening. Nine will be running double episodes of HomeMade tonight, presumably as a result of sponsor obligations after pulling the faltering show from Sunday evenings. Anything other than disastrous ratings would be a result for Nine tonight.

Monday’s top rating TV shows:

  1. Seven News – Seven 1.8m
  2. MasterChef – Ten 1.7m
  3. Today Tonight – Seven 1.6m
