Matt Moran is the face of LG Electronics kitchen range
Matt Moran, the celebrity chef who it emerged was paid to tweet positive things about Kangaroo Island, has been named brand ambassador for LG Electronics new kitchen range.
Moran is to star in an ad campaign for LG’s signature kitchen range, which will promote the new products across print, online and in-store.
Fiona Irving, corporate marketing manager of LG Electronics Australia, told Mumbrella that the decision to appoint Moran as brand ambassador was made in February, and would not comment on whether the company had had second thoughts since the Kangaroo Island episode.
She added in a press release: “Moran is largely considered one of Australia’s best known and respected chefs so we are both proud and excited to announce our partnership with him and delighted that he will be promoting the new LG Signature Kitchen range as it launches in Australia.”
She added: “Moran’s innovative style and exceptional eye for creative detail is inspiring, and it is these characteristics which we saw as the perfect synergy with our brand and what the new Signature Kitchen range is all about. We look forward to working with him.”
That would be Mat Moran not Mat Moron (heading typo) 😉

Matt Moron? That’s a bit nasty.

Are you trying to subtly make commentary on him, or is calling him Matt Moron in the headline just a typo? Hilarious either way!

Press statement may just as well have been
“We wanted a celebrity because everyone else has a celebrity. And because we sell things that people cook with, we wanted a celebrity who cooks. After several seconds of deep deliberation, we realised a Celebrity Chef would be perfect. Matt fits the bill because he’s a chef who has been on MasterChef, which makes him a Celebrity. We couldn’t be more delighted that Matt will be promoting our new Signature range. And neither could Matt. It’s fucking good money.”
Celebrity endorsements: the laziest form of marketing ever devised.
