Max Uechtritz to depart as Seven closes investigation unit amid newsroom cuts

The Seven Network has confirmed the departure of Max Uechtritz executive producer of the TV Network’s investigations and features unit.
Yesterday Mumbrella revealed that Seven was wielding the knife less than 12 months since it last laid off staff, with at least two staffers being made redundant and another 12 staff set to be redeployed, some interstate.
Uechtritz, who has been with Nine Network and the ABC, is understood to have resigned amid the cost cuts, with reports he was on a $500,000-per year salary.
The cuts are focused on Seven’s investigations unit, formed after the network scrapped its Today Tonight shows in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane in favour of a one hour news bulletin, but retained it in Perth and Adelaide.
Uechtritz is expected to remain on with the network as a consultant.
Seven has struggled in recent years to catch rival Nine in the news battle.

There are plenty of others at Seven who get paid much more than that. Yeah what about all the fat cats like Warner on $4.2m a year, and several CEOs, plus CFO, CDO, COO, all of them paid over $1-2m? Sucking profits out as quick as they come in. I guess the fat cats will get rewarded for the $500,000 they’ve saved the company.
