MEC retains Mitsubishi and SA government

MEC has retained two of the biggest media buying accounts in South Australia, retaining both the Mitsubishi Motors Australia account and also the account for the South Australian Government.

The GroupM media agency retained the Mitsubishi Motors Australia media account following a pitch against Starcom while the South Australian Government extended the agency’s contract for a further two years without a pitch.

“We have had a long and successful relationship with Mitsubishi, but a full-blown pitch is always a good opportunity to demonstrate to a client that we are the best agency in the market,” said Peter Bucklow MEC Adelaide managing director.

The Mistubishi account is estimated to be worth more than $45 million and has been with the agency for more than 20 years. MEC has held the South Australian government media account for three years and it is thought to be worth around $30 million.

MEC has also recently won the accounts for Tiger Airways and the Channel Seven network.

“The vote of confidence from both Mitsubishi and the South Australian Government caps off an incredible first quarter of growth, during which we welcomed Tiger and the Seven Network as clients, added more talent and boosted our digital capabilities,” said Peter Vogel, CEO of MEC Australia.

STW has also confirmed that Adelaide based creative agency Jamshop has picked up the creative account for Mitsubishi with a formal announcement to be made later today.
