Media and marketing bosses get a frosty reception
Media and marketing bosses including News Limited’s John Hartigan and the ABC’s Mark Scott slept outside in the winter cold last night to raise money for St Vincent De Paul’s CEO Sleepout.
News CEO Hartigan has raised the second highest amount of money with $102,605. Commonwealth Bank CEO Ralph Norris is currently leading the charge with almost $127,000.
ABC MD Mark Scott praised the initiative. He told Mumbrella: “It’s such a great idea, you get the competitiveness of the CEOs who all want to raise as much money as they can, you get homelessness on the agenda and community leaders get a greater understanding of what the issues are.”
He added: “I’ve never heard snoring quite like it, I must say.”
The event was launched nationally last year after its culmination in the Sydney suburb of Parramatta in 2006 to raise funds and awareness for homelessness in Australia.
Just over 1,000 company bosses took part across the country with $3.8 million raised so far.
