MediaCom hires UM’s Helen Black as national head of strategy

Helen BlackMediaCom have secured Helen Black from UM Australia as the new national head of strategy, Mumbrella can reveal.

Black was previously UM Sydney’s strategy director working across some of their largest clients such as the Australian Government, Microsoft and Brown Forman.

Mark Pejic CEO of MediaCom Australia said: “We are very excited to bring Helen on board. We are continuing to evolve our strategic product and Helen as a well-known strategist will strengthen this. We are focused on attracting and securing the brightest youthful talent the Australian market has to offer and Helen represents the best.”

Black has been with UM for seven years and previously worked at Starcom MediaVest and PHD.

She will report into chief strategy officer Paul Payne and be supported by each market the various state heads of strategy for MediaCom.

Paul Payne welcomed the hire and said Black would be an important addition to MediaCom. “Helen is a passionate strategist with award-winning work and proven credentials. As a proven leader, plus a champion of collaboration she understands the absolute need for accountable strategic product,” said Payne.

Helen Black said she was excited for the opportunity. “It is a great opportunity. MediaCom is passionate about developing creative and effective communications solutions and I share that passion. I look forward to working with such great talent and great clients in that continual effort,” said Black.

She will start the new role on 23 April.
