Menulog parodies Leonardo da Vinci’s Last Supper in campaign from 3rdspace
Menulog is promoting its online takeaway and home delivery services with a parody of the painting of Lenardo da Vinci’s Last Supper.
Created by Sydney agency 3rdspace, the spot sees Jesus and his disciples discussing what to have for dinner, with Thai and Indian dismissed before Jesus suggests pizza, which the group proceed to order via menulog before being told to pose by a frustrated da Vinci.

Menulog CEO Dan Katz said: “Menulog.com.au revolutionised the online ordering category and we wanted an equally strong and cut-through campaign to show how easy it is to find the perfect takeaway online.”
Launched this week on free to air and subscription TV, the campaign features 30 and 15 second executions.
3rdspace director Rob Logan said: ““It’s not every day you can say your art director was Leonardo da Vinci, but the spot perfectly highlights the versatility and functionality of Menulog.com.au.”

Such an insult to relate this mundane, mindless “creativity” with the creative genius of da Vinci. Really makes me mad!

No offence to 3rdspace- it’s at a perfectly acceptable level for Australia.

How funny! I love it!

meh, they can spend as much money as they like on advertising, it doesn’t change the fact that every restaurant they deal with gives you a better offer when you deal with them direct, not to mention most of them aren’t shy about telling you they prefer not to use the menulog service

Zipporah … pass me my tablets and hammer and chisel, please.
Dear ASB,
I’d like to make the strongest of complaints about the blasphemous Menulog ad depicting the Last Supper …

I bet Doughboy aren’t happy about it… they just changed their name and spent a fortune rebranding only to endlessly appear in this ad as Doughboy

Let’s see… how can we increase the market share for menulog? I know! let’s make a tv commercial that offends Christians! ……. Menulog have lost me as a customer with this offensive campaign!

Mike, like you were ever a customer of menulogs!! you are probably a vegan anyway. Great ad and why should Nandos have the monopoly of offending people in the quick service restaurant space!

Wow. Never seen a last supper parody before. They were very big in the 80s before people were so PC. Imagine doing this about Mohammad. There would be a war and people would die. If you are going to offend a religion make it original. And make it funny.

The Menulog commercial just shows what scumbags you are. I wonder if you would have the balls to insult the Jews. No you wouldn’t! This just shows the lack of respect that these Scumbags have for religion and that of Christianity being an easy target. My Muslim, Buddhist and Jewish Friends also totally agree. I will make sure your commercial will not be aired after this weekend.

You mean they weren’t having a go at the Jews by suggesting they were located in Bondi?

@ Sean Borg So if they did a series of ads each insulting a different religion, that would take balls and you’d be OK with it?
Also, what does the religion of your friends have to do with them agreeing with you?

@Sean Borg. Weekend is over. Still waiting.

Having Friends of other Religious beliefs and of Non Religious backgrounds shows that I am open minded and very excepting and appreciative of everyone’s individual respectful beliefs. When it comes to arrogant fools like you that question integrity and mock others, just shows how sad for Australia that for some are still haven’t evolved.

@Sean Borg. You bring your own integrity into question by making definitive assertions and failing to follow through with them. You bring your own humility into question by accusing others of arrogance. Re-read your first comment. It is the most arrogant statement on this post. Your language is abusive, your tone intolerant, your presumption of other religions reduced to the opinion of ‘friends’. Peace be with you.

Did you have to rehearse your shallow comments. If you think mocking Jesus or therfore, Mohammed, Moses, The Buddha or any Religion or Religious Practice and especially on Commercial Television is acceptable then you have no peace. Our Modern laws allow Free Speech but inevitably you added a notch to the freedom of ignorance! What’s next Racial Moking! Blessings

@Sean Borg. Be very careful with your words, Sean. I have not mocked any religion.

Let’s get ready to rumble over whose invisible friend is the best or has been berated the most.

“Be careful with my words” Firstly in English laymen terms, Mocking came from the Menulog Commercial in which I was referring to! Secondly it seems you feel more comfortable directing your frustrations towards me! How sad that people divert their attention to the easy targets than the cause of the situation. Please direct your feelings to Menulog and their Advertising Agent and let them know how disgraceful they are!

@Sean Borg. Yes, you are an easy target. Back to my original point;
“I will make sure your commercial will not be aired after this weekend.”
Is it unreasonable of me to take these words literally?

This commercial is very offensive to all Christians and must be taken down. Nothing you say will justify using the Last supper and Jesus as a tool for your advertising your service. Shame on you. You have not only lost myself as a customer but my whole church community which consists of over thousands of people.

Sean: ‘I wonder if you would have the balls to insult the Jews.’
Exactly which nationality were the people Leonardo depicted in the last supper?
Tania: ‘Nothing you say will justify using the Last supper and Jesus as a tool for your advertising your service. Shame on you.’
Should the Catholic Church also be banned from using him to advertise their services?

Just wait I will get this add down by (next) weekend. Then we’ll see who’s laughing. In case you’re wondering I mean me.

How dare you make mockery of Jesus Christ ,His disciples and the last supper.
I pray God will see it in a different light ,or woe betide you all.
Try to make mockery of the Muslims and try and sleep soundly.
Your advertisement is so offensive to all Christians.
May God deal with you all and Bless you for your ignorance.
