Mi9 to hire search sales team

Mi9 will today announce the expansion of its search sales and operations with the Australian launch of Bing Ads.

The move is a joint venture between Mi9 and Microsoft’s Bing Ads and will see Mi9 for the first time have a dedicated sales team for search, with the company planning to hire 12 new search specialists across sales, operations and product over the coming months.

“Mi9 will take the Bing offering to market in conjunction with the Mi9 advertising network and Microsoft ad exchange to round out and complete the full suite of products” said Marc Barnett Mi9’s commercial director.

“As part of this move, or evolution, we are hiring 12 new staff across Sydney and Melbourne and they will split across both the sales and operations functions.”

The announcement of the expansion will be made this afternoon by Barnett and Microsoft’s Steve Sirich at Search Marketing Expo in Sydney.

Microsoft’s Bing ads is a competitor to Google Adwords, and provides pay per click advertising on the Bing search engines. Google dominates the Australian search market but Microsoft said it was investing for the long term.

“We are expecting a similar response to what we’ve seen in other markets. We are in nearly 25 markets with Bing ads and the response we’ve been getting from customers is that they desire a choice. They want to hold Google and Microsoft accountable and expect a level of service and innovation,” said Steve Sirich Global Head of Bing Advertising.

“For us this is a long term investment and a marathon not a sprint. Google is a formidable competitor and we are humble enough to realise we are just a small player in a market like Australia.”

The move will see Mi9 add search to its suite of advertising products. Advertising on the Bing network was previously offered through Yahoo! Search Marketing. It will now be handled on the Bing Ads platform which is owned by Microsoft.
