Michael Gethen and Piers Hogarth-Scott take the reins at Community Engine

Digital company Community Engine has made two senior appointments, naming former IDM boss Michael Gethen as its new CEO and ex Hothouse manager Piers Hogarth-Scott as managing director.

The firm specialises in offering brands platforms to connect communities of consumers and advise on the strategies attached to that. Clients include the likes of FBI Radio, Qantas and Events New South Wales. The changes will see company founder Brandon Saul step back from frontline management.

Piers Hogarth-ScottHogarth-Scott was most recently on the executive management team at Hothouse Interactive and before that Chief Executive of word of mouth agency Yooster.

He said: “I’m looking forward to driving revenue growth and expanding the business to new market segments.”

Gethen was formerly a GM of Fairfax Digital’s drive.com.au and CEO of Independent Digital Media.

Saul said: “This new structure will ensure that Community Engine is well equipped to manage the demands and opportunity of the business.”

The two year old company currently has a staff of around 30.

Anything there for the communities *cough* market segments you are connecting to?

I had a chat with an agency from Asia the other day. They represent the communities (clients) and connect them to companies (3rd parties) – a different way of looking at community engagement.

  6. Laurel, you obviously keep posting irrelevant comments to give the appearance of relevancy with anything related to “community”.

    Congrats to Michael and Piers.

  10. Question 1. :”People involved in the Australian social media community are plumbing depths of bitchiness and solipsism hitherto only seen in the fashion industry”. Discuss.
