Michael Hill reviews $7m Aussie media business
Jeweller Michael Hill is reviewing its estimated $7m media account, with incumbent UM invited to contest the pitch.
Sue Szylvester, group marketing executive of Michael Hill, has called a global review of media, with Australia the first market to be contested.
Michael Hill’s Australian creative business, which was formerly handled by UM’s sister agency McCann until it was taken inhouse at the end of last year, is not involved in the review.
The process is being handled by The Agency Register, which earlier this month reported a large spike in new business activity for the first quarter of 2012.
So the new inhouse creative ‘department’ is not being reviewed after 4 months. Now that’s a surprise!

The creative is in-house because when McCann closed the brisbane office -no other agency could produce even 1/5 of the amount of work they required for the budget.

if creative agencies stopped overcharging they could probably solve this 1/5 productivity problem

Err, the result of charging 1/5 of the amount was closing an office and putting about 18 people out of work.
