Mockumentary wins contest to shoot a film in 48 hours
A mockumentary set in the near-future where the world’s fuel and electricity has run out has won a competition to shoot a film in 48 hours.
Electric Dreams follows twenty-something Eric who, excited by stories of the way things were, discovers a map to Science Town where electricity is believed to be made, but must somehow get his old old Volvo there to convert it.
The film, which won at the the 48 Hour Eco-Film Challenge, was produced by Team Oh; Ben McNamara, Matthew Cleaves and Kathleen Lee.
It won the $5,000 first prize and will be screened at Cannes International Film Festival.
The festival is a joint venture between the 48 Hour Festival inc and the FilmMakers Australia. It runs various challenges throughout the year including an open themed challenge which this year was won by a team of creatives from the Seven network, for a film called ‘A Little Bit Behind‘.
Fantastic short film created in only 48 Hours, we have amazing talent in Australia.

Believable and yet not, I laughed out loud at times and was caught up by the proposition and imaginings. Frank (Some muvvers do ‘ave ’em) in a dicky situation, without Betty. Very clever.

As the winner of the prestigious Woulda Coulda Should award in the same contest, I tips my lid to a clever film-maker and inspired performance. Reg The Revhead reaches out to give you the nod. A big Vroom from us all at ‘Sudden Stop’.

This was better than the last three seasons of underbelly, rush and tricky business.

This short was so much to make and we are overwhelmed by the response for a film we made around the house one weekend 🙂
