Converse gives its product line a fresh kick today, as the Nike brand unveils a new version of its iconic rubber-toed, canvas Chuck Taylor sneaker.

Dubbed the Chuck Taylor All Star II, the line extension marks an effort by Converse to update the shoe for contemporary consumers, while retaining the basic attributes that have made Chucks exceedingly popular, particularly with artists, musicians, designers and other members of the creative crowd.”

Media Week UK: Pearson sells FT to Japan’s media giant Nikkei for £844m

Pearson has confirmed it is selling the Financial Times Group to Japan’s media company Nikkei for £844 million in cash.

Today’s shock sale of the 127 year old brand includes the FT newspaper, FT.com, How to Spend It, FT Labs, FTChinese, the Confidentials and Financial Publishing (including The Banker, Investors Chronicle, MandateWire, Money-Media and Medley Global Advisors).

In 2014, FT Group contributed £334 million of sales and £24 million of adjusted operating income to Pearson. At 30 June 2015, FT Group had gross assets of approximately £250 million.

Campaign: 18 Feet/Nationwide in ad row

18 Feet & Rising is taking its former client Nationwide to court following a dispute over who actually conceived one of its ad campaigns.

The agency filed a claim against Nationwide in the Chancery Division of the High Court on 17 July, according to documents in the public domain.

Campaign understands that the row concerns a TV spot launched by Nationwide in May after 18 Feet & Rising stopped working with the building society.

 

Mumbrella Asia: Ad:tech organiser DMG Events to close Singapore operation

DMG Events, the company behind digital marketing event Ad:tech ASEAN, is closing its Singapore operation, it emerged today.

An email from the company said that it “may be a shock” for the industry to learn that the long-running Ad:tech events would no longer be held in Singapore. Attendance numbers and the reputation of the event have suffered in recent years.
