  2. Pretty sensible for a Murdochian

  4. I don’t like the word “curating” but I do like the differentiation between iPad “editions” and website updates. That makes sense. To a certain extent, greatest not latest.

  6. Tim, I see your interview and raise you this most excellent post by Damian Damjanovski:

Don’t Buy The Australian’s iPad App

Why indeed would someone pay for something that is better when it’s free?

  8. I understood exactly 7% of Nic’s corporate gobbledegook (heaven forbid a journalist would speak plain English!) and exactly 0.00000000001% of what Sarah was waffling on about (although I may have been distracted by her come-hither hazel eyes).

  10. “that will become the big barometer going forward”

She could coach footy with mumbo jumbo like that.

  12. From a consumer point of view, no one in their right mind would pay for something they can get for free. Of course, if it was previously free, it would cause some riot. But if it’s a great and valuable product, and if it’s going to be even better than before, then why not. But only if it’s really worth it.
    BTW, great interview!

  14. Tim, some strange editing there – a number of times when I thought Nic was about to say something interesting, you cut to the next question? I know you probably don’t have a lot of time to be editing this stuff, but this was a really jarring experience, particularly in the first half of the Nic interview…

  16. Hi Damian,

It was a good conversation. When we record interviews for the Mumbo Report, we generally record for 20 minutes or so. But experience tells us that if we use more than four or five minutes, we lose our audience.

I’m sometimes tempted to put up an uncut version too… if there was a demand for that, then we’d be happy to do so…

    Cheers,

    Tim – Mumbrella

  18. Yes please give us the uncut version. Not your best editing effort, and it looks like a good interview cut short. Love your site.

  20. I’d be up for uncut videos too!

(also, the Damian above, is not me Damian, but some kind of imposter Damian).

  22. Yeah, I stopped halfway through Nick’s interview. Not because what he was talking was gobbledegook, but because he was pathetic at spinning a tale to justify the reason for paid content. Old wine in new bottle, looks like Rupert has ordered his staff to confuse the hell out of any outsider asking questions of the paid controversy.

Actullay I would love the uncut videos too, probably have an archive section? The 4 minute edition looks too jerky, more like the Wham, bam, thank you Maam type.
