Hi Macsmutterings,
I’m very impressed that TEDx is able to take place without charge. Last year was an excellent event – and indeed of a far higher quality than many that do charge. They have some extremely generous sponsors and supporters.
In our case, the choice isn’t one between charging or not charging. It’s about charging or not doing it.
I’d be interested to hear your ideas about alternative business models. But for now, I’m focusing on trying to do a good enough event that people are willing to pay to attend.
Cheers,
Tim – Mumbrella
Dear Tim
If that is a genuine interest in my ideas re alternative business models, I’d be happy to discuss this further in time for next year’s event. However, one suggestion I might like to make for this year, is offering the possibility to buy a ‘day pass’ rather than having for fork out money (and time) for the entire 2 days. I would hypothesise that this may indeed increase your attendance rates, as I’m sure there are many that only have the time (or money) for 1 day.
Regards,
macsmutterings
