Paid and unpaid media contributions

Mumbrella journalists regularly appear as industry commentators on TV and radio and sometimes in public speaking roles. On occasion, there are contributor fees offered and accepted. Where this occurs, the relevant organisations are invoiced by Focal Attractions rather than by the journalist individually, in the same way that we invoice our advertisers. The purpose of this is so that a journalist does not have a personal financial interest in continuing to make appearances, so feels free to write about these organisations in whatever way they see fit.

Where journalists write columns for media organisations that we might later cover our policy is to bill through the company if payment is offered.

On rare occasions our journalists offer media training – but only to organisations we would be unlikely to write about.
