Mumbrella is three – thanks for supporting us

Mumbrella hits its third anniversary today.

Our first post, from editor Tim Burrowes, attempted to manage expectations:

“Whenever you go to a newish blog, the first posting is invariably rubbish. It usually makes a lame promise about what it’s going to be (invariably controversial and hard-hitting), and how often it will be updated (frequently). The original promise is very rarely kept.”

The name Mumbrella came from a late night conversation in the Beresford Hotel in Sydney between PHD’s now global strategy director Mark Holden and Burrowes. (Holden liked the warm semantics around the word Mum.)

Since then, Mumbrella has:

  • Written 10,115 posts
  • Published 69,343 reader comments
  • Chosen not to publish 1,456 comments
  • Recorded 101 Mumbrellacasts (mainly at the studios of CBS Interactive). If you listen, please do drop by iTunes and give us a rating
  • Had our Mumbo Report videos viewed on YouTube a total of 250,225 times
  • Had ads we’ve posted on the MumbrellaAus YouTube channel viewed 3,034,663 times
  • Delivered 14,506,214 page impressions
  • Had 7,394,797 visits
