3:31pm – Here’s a sordid little tale coming out of the US, where ad tech company RadiumOne has fired its CEO after he was charged with hitting his girlfriend 117 times in 30 minutes. The firing comes after a few customers said they were considering their use of the company after the charges were filed. Gurbaksh Chahal also wrote a blog defeding himself, and saying he had been provoked because his partner had been having unprotected sex with strangers for money. He was fined $500 for the incident but denies he hit the woman.

3:09pm – You’ll likely remember our piece last week on the Australian Financial Review’s major cock-ups with the front page for it’s ANZAC edition. It transpires that could now be the most valuable edition of the paper anyway.

10:58am – It seems the amount of stereotypes flying around in the Modern Family Australia episode aired last night did not go unnoticed. Comedian Tom Gleeson tweeted this morning:tom gleeson twitter modern family

10:17am – There’s a couple of new appointments today. The first is Mary Ann Azer taking on the role of head of the Magazine Publishers of Australia, and then media agency Bohemia taking Karen Halligan from rival independent Slingshot.

9:43am – Initial TV ratings are in, and it’s good news for Modern Family (see 8:44am) and Ten which grabbed more than 1m viewers for its much hyped Australian episode. However, The Logies saw a drop in its viewership for a fifth successive year.

9:19am – Eddie McGuire has made headlines again, this time for dropping the C-bomb live on his Sunday night Fox Footy show. The sound quality on this clip is low, but you can just make it out.

844am – Last night saw the airing on Ten of the Modern Family trip to Australia with pretty much every Australian cliche ticked off including climbing the Sydney Harbour Bridge, snorkelling the Great Barrier Reef, bush walking, and a meat pie on a tinny. Special mention also to the gratuitous product placement of Optus, AussieBum and of course Qantas, which underwrote the trip.

The airline has sent out a press release this morning claiming after it aired in the US on Wednesday the number of visitors to its website from there went up 25 per cent, with 9.6m tuning in. We’ll find out how it did here just after 9:00am.

You can watch the episode on TenPlay here.

8:33am – It was TedX Sydney on Saturday, with a number of notable, and less well-known, people giving talks and performances at the Sydney Opera House. Mumbrella was there live blogging the day, and we’ve got a roundup of the best video bits from the day here. Here’s a teaser to get you in the mood.

8:19am – Of course the big unspoken news of The Logies is the fact no news sites managed to spoil things for viewers by leaking the winners before it is shown on TV. After The Australian last year and Herald Sun the year before published the winners, it’s no surprise Bauer’s press department decided to withold the press release until after the announcement had been made in Melbourne.

8:06am – Cudos to The Australian for the cover wrap today spruiking it’s iPad app to the unenlightened. Certainly an interesting and powerful visual for  Monday morning after a long weekend.

7:38am – And talking of The Logies there was something of a surprise winner lat night with the quiet man of Aussie TV The Block presenter Scott Cam taking the Gold Logie gong. He also grabbed the award for Best Presenter, while Gold rival Asher Keddie got two Silver awards or most outstanding and most popular actress, while LAchy Hulme scooped a Silver for his portrayal of Sir Frank Packer in Nine’s Power Games series last year. See the full list of winners here and check out some of the dresses and controversies for the night here.

6.39am – The three commercial TV breakfast shows are all broadcasting from Melbourne with morning-after-Logies shows. Sunrise’s audience area is ‘The Kosh Pit’ in honour of David Koch. Wake Up seem to have set up their stools on a random street corner. And Today’s Karl Stefanovic has just urged viewers to phone the room at Crown Hotel of sports host Ben Fordham, who has a day off.
