5.25pm – Torch Media is seven years old. We know that because a food van has pulled up outside Mumbrella House. Steak sandwiches are gooood.
4pm – The CommsCon Awards judging is over, and the results are now being tallied ahead of next Thursday.
2:13pm – The stoush between Swisse and The Checkout is set to rumble on, with the show featuring a report following up the comments made to Mumbrella by Swisse last week about the labels they are using currently.
1:42pm – The final round of judging for the CommsCon Awards is underway, and after a briefing in the office we’ve removed the two juries to a local hostelry where they are running the rule over the last lot of entrants.
1:03pm – Dr Mumbo attended the star studded launch of the Presto streaming service last night, and was very impressed with the honesty of Mr Danny Clayton, the MC.
12:30pm – The Sydney Morning Herald has finally caught up on Mumbrella Asia’s story from yesterday about Malaysian journalists describing th A Current Affair report into the missing Malaysian airliner and the co-pilot as gutter journalism.
11:52am – Outpoken Daily Telegraph columnist Andrew Bolt has written a blog posting today admitting “I feel like I’ve lost” and “I was so bruised by Q&A I didn’t go into work on Tuesday” after he was labeled a “racist’ by a panelist on the ABC show.
11:27am – A quick update on a Mumbo yesterday about Domino’s Facebook comments dubbed over images of refugees. When we posted it yesterday morning the video had had 13 views, it’s now up to 340,000. And it’s been posted so many times on Domino’s Facebook page the company has agreed to bring back the Puff Pastry crust pizza.
11:02am – A quick recap on the TV ratings, where Puberty Blues dropped viewers on its second outing, and Nine News outrated The Block. The full story is here.
10:45am – Telstra has reshuffled its pack again, with Mark Buckman picking up more duties and taking on the media remit as well as marketing, being elevated to the executive team.
10:05am – There’s more judging going on for CommsCon Awards today. This morning we’ve got five jurors locked in our studio, and many more coming throughout the day. The awards are next Thursday night.
9:52am – Sticking with The Oz their top yarn today is an exclusive from Comunications Minister Malcolm Turnbull pledging local news will be safe if and when media ownership laws are changed.
9:30am – Yesterday The Australian compared Mumbrella to the Sydney Swans. Dr Mumbo wants readers’ help to decide what sports team The Oz would be. So far Lance Armstrong and the GWS Giants are popular answers.
9:15am – Ten has confirmed it is not looking for a replacement for Charlie Pickering, who is leaving The Project after five years next month as he is due to become a father.
8:47am – Foxtel’s Presto movie streaming service launched overnight, offering people the chance to stream the films from the premium movie channels for $19.99 per month. The pay-TV provider held a star-studded bash at The Ivy in Sydney last night or the launch.
8:17am – It must be tough coming up with original segments for daily shows every day, but this has to rank among the “most bizarre” pieces ever put to air by a breakfast show. This is Karl Stefanovic attempting to break the World Record for breaking walnuts with you head in one minute.
