Campaign: Martin Sorrell earns 780 times more than average WPP employee

Sorrell earned almost £30 million last year, which is roughly 780 times more than his average worker, who gets £38,000. It is the second highest pay differential of any FTSE 100 company and was questioned by WPP shareholders at the company’s annual general meeting.

The statistic was part of a report released today by the High Pay Centre, which is a non-party think tank that monitors pay gaps.

Those wondering why the product didn’t hit shelves years ago will find their question answered with this walk down the confectioner’s memory lane. The agency created this series of ridiculous and entirely plausible scenarios to explain why the mini idea didn’t come to fruition in the ’80s and ’90s.

 Adweek: Rooster CCO Gavin McInnes Asked to Take Leave of Absence

Published earlier this week on Thought Catalog, “Transphobia is Perfectly Natural” has at publication received 2,082 comments. It has also sparked a “Boycott Rooster” movement, with Tumblr and Twitter accounts asking followers to let Rooster clients—Vans, Red Bull, Fox Sports and others—know they will not support companies that work with McInnes.

“Gavin’s views are his own and do not represent those of the company or its members,” said a Rooster representative. “We are extremely disappointed with his actions and have asked that he take a leave of absence while we determine the most appropriate course of action.”

Mumbrella Asia: Stuff Singapore first Asian edition to remove half-naked women from front covers

The gadgets mag, which is published by Haymarket, decided to remove half-naked women from its covers in the UK last month after research showed that the girls-with-gadgets formula had stopped working as the appeal of ‘lads mags’ has waned. Also, 40 per cent of its readers are female.

Locally in Singapore, the shift to use content within the magazine on the front comes a few months after Stuff launched a competition to find a girl to feature on its August cover.The five-month campaign was sponsored by the likes of Nokia, Canon, Lenovo, Pioneer and Funan Digital Life.

The Guardian: Sky faces inquiry over MH17 report

“Sky News is to be investigated by the media regulator for broadcasting images of one of its presenters handling a passenger’s belongings at the Malaysia Airlines MH17 crash site.

Ofcom received more than 200 complaints after Sky News presenter Colin Brazier was shown picking through an open suitcase in a live broadcast from the crash site in eastern Ukraine in July.”
