Top stories:

6:45pm – You may remember the piece around the harm charity street fundraisers do to brands, and response from Amnesty International saying these ‘chuggers’ were vital to their fundraising. Well, Angela Brooks from McNair research has written a piece laying out some facts, with some very interesting results.

6:05pm – There’s a mysterious thing happened at Enero. They’ve announced hey have paid $1.1m to someone they sold a business to, but refused to say what it was for, who it was paid to, or why. Dr Mumbo took up the case.

5:46pm – Remember that Hoverboard video featuring Doc Brown from Back to the Future we posted this morning (see 8:55am). When we posted it there had been 40,000 views on YouTube, it’s now up to 1.95m. Still no word on what it’s spruiking, although rumours range from it being an ad to spark interest in the technology and get people investing, to a pre-trailer for the rumoured Back to the Future 4. Methinks we shall see tomorrow.

4.50pm – It’s fair to say the weather has deteriorated to some form of apocolypse outside Mumbrella House in Sydney this afternoon. Still, at least we can rely on Foxtel to keep us up to date with what’s happening as the storm rages…

4:05pm – News Corp is understood to be pitching its creative account, with incumbents AJF Partnership, Archibald Williams and M&C Saatchi’s Mark all on alert. Read the details here.

4:04pm – The hangout has now wrapped up, however if you missed it you can watch the video at your leisure here.

3:36pm – Mumbrella editor Alex Hayes is currently hosting a hangout with Indian creative luminary Agnello Dias. You can watch it here and ask questions on Twitter using the hashtag #askagnello.

3:25pm The New York Times has issued a correction for a story from over 150 years ago. It seems the paper, when reporting on the story of Solomon Northup who was kidnapped and sold into slavery, – the story the Oscar winning ’12 Years A Slave’ has brought to the attention of the modern-day public – misspelt Northup’s name as Northrup. The paper said that the errors “came to light on Monday after a Twitter user pointed out the article in The Times archives.”

2.45pm – The latest promo for this week’s The Checkout has been released and it takes a swipe at 3D TV.

1.42pm – The Woolies pitch is heating up. We have the shortlist on which agencies will face off for the $240m account. Read the story here.

1.32pm – Director of Puberty Blues Glendyn Ivin has told Mumbrella he glad the second series is “finally out there”, but says he is concerned Ten’s recent poor ratings may impact the launch of the second series. Read the story here.

1:04pm – 2DayFM was back in court today, arguing the ACMA’s preliminary or final report on the ‘Royal Prank’ call incident should not be allowed to be released as it oversteps its bounds. More here.

11:58am – Katy Perry’s been in Sydney doing the rounds, including a very interesting weather broadcast on Seven’s Sunrise, as witnessed by Dr Mumbo. But where is Hogwarts in Australia?

11:15am – More changes are being wrought ahead of the Cannes Lions festival this year, with a big shakeup in the media categories after OMD Sydney took the Media Agency of the Year prize unexpectedly last year. There’s also been more fiddling with production and ad agency categories. More here.

Agnello Dias10:58am – We’re holding a video hangout this afternoon with Indian advertising luminary Agnello Dias, one of the global gurus of design. We’ll be putting your questions to “the most decorated and progressive adman in India” in a joint hangout with Mumbrella Asia using the hashtag #askagnello on Twitter, or on the comment thread on this page where the hangout will be hosted.

Answers For Adam 10:43am – Yesterday Adam Ferrier rekindled the Answers for Adam section with a piece asking is ad spin necessarily bad? Well, Nick Murray, the head of production house CPZ which makes The Checkout, has answered him to explain why it is.

10:25am – Greenpeace has taken on Procter and Gamble using a parody of the popular “Thanks Mom” campaign highlighting the animal left without homes, and mums, because of palm oil use in P&G products.

10:05amHere is the full TV ratings report for last night’s viewing, with The Biggest Loser shedding more viewers, as The Block closes the gap on My Kitchen Rules with a special extended episode.

9.26amESPN Cricinfo journalist Brydon Coverdale scooped a cool $225,000 on Seven gameshow Million Dollar Minute last night, and seems to have celebrated by staying up to watch Australia’s tussle with South Africa in the cricket.

9:15am  Overnight ratings are coming in, and no prizes for guessing which two powerhouse reality franchises won the night. The Biggest Loser pulled an audience of 322,000 for Ten, less than US Soap The Bold and the Beautiful.

8:55am – This vid has started doing the rounds on YouTube purporting to show celebs, including skateboarder Tony Hawk, riding real “hoverboards”. They’ve even got Doc Brown from Back to the Future to front it. We’re wondering who this is going to be a marketing video for though…?

8:29am – The Australian is continuing on its trend around media companies lobbying Communications Minister Malcolm Turnbull, with FreeTV  telling him their networks have a “special place” in the hearts of the community.

8:15am – What’s happening around the newspapers this morning, I hear you cry? Well the Sydney Morning Herald has a piece quoting BWM boss Rob Belgiovane saying the new Reebok spot featuring Miranda Kerr stripping off is “not going to be winning any Cannes Lions”.  Judge for yourself.

8:11am – Stand by though, they do have a big exclusive – about Puberty Blues, that show which is returning tonight on…oh yeah, Ten.

8:03am – It’s not Wake Up’s day today by the looks of it. First, it appears they’re having  audio problems. Despite wearing lapel mics, hosts James Mathison and Natarsha Belling are both using handhelds.

Then it’s revealed newsreader Nuala Hafner is ill, so there’ll be no crosses to her glass box in Melbourne’s Federation Square. Instead the bulletin is read from Sydney.
