Mumbrella to start guest postings

Mumbrella will shortly be starting to host occasional guest posts. This could be from anyone working within media, marketing, advertising or PR. It could be the inside story of a recent campaign success (or failure!), or it may simply be tips on how to do an element of your job better. And it could even be a rant on a topic you have strong feelings on.

Any ideas, email tim@focalattractions.com.au.

  2. I am in two minds about your bloggy, mumbles.

One: its lovely for social media snark. I have a guilty giggle and rejoice in the naughtiness listed herein.
On the other hand, there’s a bunch of traditional journalism here – you bring over that passion for the words themselves (and what they can inflict!) but I don’t see you struggling with the concepts of social media a personal level. Nah, not really a criticism but just an obvious difference between your blog and some of the others.

Perhaps most telling is that your blog is one of the finest examples I’ve seen of social media being used to “out” social media. Sort of Crikey without the elite readership. Present commenter excepted of course. Heh.

I guess what I am saying is: can you find someone that isn’t going to rant on about stupid viral campaigns and agencies being dills? About silly bloggers and the politics of the social media industry? Find someone nice. Of course we won’t actually read them but I’ve done my good deed for the day. *waves*

  4. Tim. I’m with Laurel on the most part on this one. It would be good to hear some positive, constructive and motivating examples of things happening in the market. It’s been a little dark so far this year!

  6. Hi Tony,
You’ll be glad to know that I’m working on just such a posting right now. Cynically, I bet it doesn’t draw half as much comment/ traffic as bad news…
    Cheers,

    Tim

  8. There will always be those who find it morally satisfying to deconstruct rather than build; perhaps the builders are all busy doing their jobs while the wowsers are busy hitting the refresh key.
