The Event Audit Certificate numbers show that the event’s total attendance rose from 1,020 in 2012 to 1,108 in 2013.

Mumbrella editor Tim Burrowes said: “I heartily recommend having your event audited. That way, if a competitor mischievously claims there are ‘persistent rumours’ your numbers are down, as The Australia’s Media Diary did today, you are able to easily refute their claims. As The Australian was referred to these numbers prior to publication, it’s curious why they did not make use of them.
“I’m sure that it’s entirely coincidental that less than a week ago we were first to dig into News Corp’s financial numbers and reveal that its Australian newspapers had seen a revenue drop of $350m.”
It is so interesting seeing a small independent publisher taking on News like this – so openly and assertively.

Hi X,
Thanks for the compliment.
I remain a loyal reader of The Oz. It’s the job of a media diary to cause a bit of mischief, so I’m flattered to be the subject of its attention. We have been known to be provocative ourselves form time to time, so it would be somewhat hypocritical to complain when we’re on the receiving end for once. But at the same time, I’m always happy to put them right….
Cheers,
Tim – Mumbrella
