Nando’s launches Labor leadership tactical ad
Nando’s has joined the tactical advertising frenzy around the Labor leadership contest with an ad that mocks former foreign minister Kevin Rudd’s bid for control of the party.
After cutting out the ad, consumers can redeem a free drink.
Nando’s – which is well know for tactical ads – took advertising inhouse in May last year after parting ways with Melbourne’s The Sphere Agency.
I have been looking at this ad for the past hour (on and off, not all at once obviously) and I desperately want to glean a nano-pube of humour from it. I am seriously excited by the subhead. It is here that I am certain I have found a zepto-fleck of mirth. Please confirm: Is “coup” a cunning play on the familiar expression chicken “coop”?

I believe they are referring to a coup “the sudden, illegal deposition of a government” and a coupon.
