Nando’s takes a fair shake of the sauce bottle
Ad agency Sphere has rushed out a topical radio ad based around Kev Rudd’s much-lampooned new catchphrase “Fair shake of the sauce bottle, mate” for client Nando’s.
“The connection between the PM’s sauce bottle line and Nando’s signature ingredient, Peri-Peri sauce, appeared as obvious territory for the brand to work with,” said Sphere MD Michael Abdul. “We wrote it and recorded it in a day to get it on air while the topic was as fresh as possible.”
I wonder if we could stretch the brand application of Kev’s infinite irreverence a little further; perhaps Cadbury’s could release a limited edition chocolate frog in Kev’s honour?… we could call it the ‘Blind Freddo’ !!!

Shame he sounds more like Tony Blair than Kevin Rudd

Nando’s are renowned for being quite cheeky with their advertising. Their ads in South Africa (where the franchise started) were always very irreverent – One I seem to recall had a guy opening a champagne bottle in their restaurant which sounded like a gun going off (reference to the crime problem)…and then just about the whole restaurant stood up and drew out their guns.

I’ve dined out for years (not in Nandos, I hasten to add) on my own comic impression of Joh Bjelke and his mixed metaphors. If you want a 2 min laugh right now, the audio clip is on the Master of Ceremonies page on my site: http://bit.ly/qIZ5N Enjoy!

Wonderful. Nando’s managing to get this type of ad to air so quickly is very impressive. Well done Kevin. I heard it on 3AW today

We have to hope that our Kev learnt more than his Strine from that other Queenslander Big Kev “I’m EXCITED” from GMA who turned a successful business bankrupt . Maybe our KEV really does believe people understand what he says in his situation specific language. It is possible of course that nobody actually gives a 5hit so long as we keep receiving free money to stimulate our love in. Strewth it’s a bloody ripper and you can take that to the dunny

Heard the advert on Radio today and it’s annoying. They did the ad using the “chk chk boom” also. If Nando’s are trying to be hip and edgy based on current events, I wonder if it’s working? (apart from the press they get about them)

Seems like someone’s worked out exactly what Mr Rudd meant at http://www.fairshakeofthesaucebottlemate.com/
Crude but pretty funny!
