NBN Co pitches media account, UM on alert
The National Broadband Network (NBN Co.) is reviewing its media account with incumbent UM on alert, Mumbrella can reveal.
The pitch for media comes just a week after the company appointed BWM as its creative agency after a competitive pitch between six agencies, which included the former incumbent Host.
“We have been reviewing our agency relationships to ensure we have the right support to assist us in communicating the NBN’s new strategic direction,” said an NBN spokesman.
For the media pitch it is yet unclear as to which agencies are on the shortlist, but sources have told Mumbrella that most of the major agency groups have been approached.
When the account was last pitched it was thought to have a spend of $20m, although it is thought that this spend has been significantly reduced in recent years following the change of government and major changes to the rollout of the NBN
Earlier this year UM lost the Federal Government moving its media buying account to Mitchell & Partners.
It comes after a mixed 18 months for UM with the agency winning big accounts NSW Government and Coca-Cola, but losing L’Oreal and Mastercard in a global pitch.

What a waste of taxpayer money, we pay to build the project then have to pay marketers to market it to us? Leave the marketing up to the retail service providers.
