Network Ten expands tenplay with the best of social media platform Beamly

Interactive elements of social networking and social television platform Beamly have been integrated into Network Ten’s digital entertainment platform tenplay.

The announcement:

Network Ten today announced the integration of Beamly interactive elements into its online catch-up and streaming service tenplay.

The Beamly elements will be integrated over the next few months and will include Quizzes, Gaming Brackets and Votelies.

Votelies, which allow people to share their voice with visual one-click interactions that show national sentiment real-time, have recently gained international attention through executions in the UK around Eastenders and the Eurovision Song Contest, where engagement levels were higher for the show than with any other social network.

Network Ten’s new and existing audiences will get to enjoy the very best of the Beamly social network for television on tenplay.

Network Ten Chief Digital Officer, Rebekah Horne, said: “The addition of these highly engaging, compelling and entertaining Beamly features is great news for the many users of tenplay and will enhance their online viewing experience.

“Beamly has established a strong following of loyal and highly-engaged users. We look forward to connecting with them through tenplay.”

With this integration, Beamly Australia will transition operations to Beamly headquarters in London, where the platform has been developed.

Since its launch less than two years ago, tenplay has become one of Australia’s leading digital entertainment platforms.

The tenplay app and website gives audiences access to Network Ten’s catch-up video platform and unique live streaming experiences for free.

tenplay has proved particularly popular with mobile and tablet users, who have downloaded the app more than 2.1 million times across Android, iOS and Windows devices.

The total is even higher when installations on smart TVs and the Microsoft Xbox 360 and Xbox One platforms are included. tenplay is also available through FreeviewPlus, Apple TV and Fetch TV.

Ms Horne said: “tenplay has quickly become a go-to entertainment choice for many Australians and has easily beaten the forecasts we set before its launch.

“It is now one of the most popular online and mobile entertainment platforms in Australia. It has been key to the success of Network Ten’s ‘TV Everywhere’ strategy, which brings our unique content such as MasterChef Australia, The Bachelor Australia, The Project, Family Feud, I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! and much, much more to people anywhere, any time and on any device.”

tenplay gives users access to TEN, ELEVEN and ONE shows on-demand, straight after they have appeared on television, as well as real-time viewing, with live streaming of news and sporting events.

tenplay also allows viewers to create personalised playlists, lining up their television picks to watch whenever they want; pin favourite shows and genres to their phone dashboard for easy access; set up alerts and reminders for their favourite shows; and access a complete television guide with full listings.
