New Totaltravel ad: The bags have been stolen and the beach is a swamp
The real perils of booking a holiday without planning properly are at the centre of a new ad campaign for Yahoo7’s Totaltravel.com.au created by Three Drunk Monkeys.
The ad aims to position Totaltravel as the “where to go before you go” destination.
The campaign will run until September across Seven and 7Two, and online.
Harry Burt, GM of marketing at Yahoo!7 said “The campaign was created on the back of research highlighting Australians’ need for a comprehensive online destination to help them plan a holiday with confidence.”
Three Drunk Monkeys ECD Scott Nowell said: “At some stage everyone’s arrived at a holiday destination expecting an environment of relaxation and pleasure, and got much, much less. We’re identifying that moment, and giving holiday makers a way to avoid it.”
Nice, deadpan use of humour. Good stuff.

A good example of “Problem….Problem” advertising….it won’t work because the logo at the end isn’t a memorable solution – it’s just a logo.
It also doesn’t help that they’ve spent 28 seconds re-enforcing the generic problems that any type of travel insurance is designed to cover.
This type of advertising is appearing quite a bit lately – “ANZ Barbara” is another example. Whilst it’s mildly entertaining – it doesn’t provide anything memorable or believable to attach to the brand. And that is the point of advertising.
But that’s just my opinion.

Here is a good example of how to do this sort of ad: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uIrf2a5JdnU Short film that was cut into ads for the Super Bowl accompanied with an interactive drive to the website.

A lazy, well trodden creative path.

Can someone tell me the difference between this and the Orbitz ad that has been out for some time
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o5lqtQNeG8A&feature=player_embedded?
Or, on a concept level, the difference between Oyster.com’s Orbitz photo fake-outs? http://www.oyster.com/hotels/photo-fakeouts/
The travel industry needs something new and fresh, this is not it.
