Newcastle’s NXFM announces new breakfast show

Southern Cross Austereo’s Newcastle station NXFM has announced a new 6-9am breakfast show, to kick off from November.

The duo Heath Piper and Lucas Dorrell, as Heath & Normy, previously held a night show on Triple M Sydney and more recently hosted 104.9 Star FM’s Albury breakfast show.

The show replaces the Steve & Kim show which featured Steve Graham and Kim Bauer. News on their next move will be announced soon.

Of the appointment, Craig Bruce, SCA head of radio said: “The development of Heath and Normy is a testament to the brilliance of the content team I have around me. They were discovered in a talent recruitment drive a few years ago, nurtured on Triple M Sydney and then given their first breakfast show in the Albury market. In that time they have evolved to be one of our most exciting prospects, and as a company, we are thrilled to give them the opportunity to go to the next level in the highly competitive and much larger Newcastle market.”

Of the new move, Dorrell said: “My only criteria is that it’s close to my favourite footy player Joey Johns, it’s the birthplace of Australia’s hottest woman, Jennifer Hawkins, and it’s the home city of my favourite band, Silverchair.”
