The announcement:

News Corp Australia is aiming to level the score when its AFL team, the News Corp Knights, takes to the field against the Agency All-Stars, a team of media professionals, this Friday August 7 at Punt Road Oval.

This will be the eighth time the teams have faced off in what has become an annual fixture on the Melbourne media calendar. The Agency All-Stars will be captained by Dentsu Mitchells national trading and investor director Nick Swifte and have won four of the seven previous matches. This year the Agency All-Stars will feature players from agencies such as: Dentsu Mitchells, Carat, Vizeum, OMD, Universal McCann, Starcom, Maxus, Cummins & Partners and Mindshare.

The News Corp Knights has enlisted the help of former player and SuperCoach ambassador Shane Crawford to give them pointers on their game in their final training sessions. Captain Ashley Sheard, Victorian sales director News Corp Australia, is hoping Crawford’s advice will be their secret weapon on the field.

“This competition has taken on a life of its own and we’ve had record numbers of people register to play. No doubt the Agency All-Stars are feeling confident, but we have a few tricks up our sleeves and will come out firing,” said Mr Sheard.

“The Agency All-Stars are ahead on the leader board and our plan is simply to widen that gap come Friday. We’ll bring our A-game. The trophy and all the kudos that comes with it are in our sights,” said Mr Swifte.

The game takes place from 4.30pm, Friday August 7 at Punt Road Oval in Melbourne. People are invited to come along and support their favourite team.
