Former News Corp Australia director of digital strategy and sales Neil Robinson has joined transaction marketing company ROKT as chief revenue officer.

He joined News Corp Australia in 2001 as group sales manager before being promoted to deputy sales director of the national advertising team, moving up to lead that team in 2007. He was then promoted to the director of digital strategy and sales position in March last year.

Mumbrella understands Robinson departed News Corp in July, ending a 15 year tenure with the publishing company. His responsibilities have been absorbed by head of digital sales strategy Cameron King and head of commercial integration Greg McCrea.

Robinson will be responsible for building and leading ROKT’s global sales team and will be based in New York.

CEO of the Australian-based platform Bruce Buchanan said in a statement: “Neil has demonstrated, over his years in digital media sales, an exceptional ability to grasp an advertiser’s challenges and formulate programs that exceed expectations.  His industry insight and enthusiasm for all things digital will be most welcome at ROKT.  We are glad to have him on the ROKT team.”

Commenting on his appointment Robinson said in a statement: “The ROKT team explicitly gets the role of relevancy and context in digital marketing and delivers this at scale. Marketers today expect surety of results in their investment. ROKT provides that. I’m thrilled to join such a great team.”
