News Magazines appoints Jodie Smith

Jodie Smith has been appointed group accounts director at News Magazines following a move from sister company News Ltd.

The announcement:

Zara Curtis, commercial director, News Magazines is pleased to announce the appointment of Jodie Smith as the new group accounts director.

“News Magazines’ key accounts and strategic response division is a growth area for our integrated brand offerings across all mediums and disciplines, from print to digital, editorial and marketing. It provides our agencies and clients with an effective central contact for all their briefing and responses within our company when working across our multiple brands and divisions,” says Ms Curtis.

“This appointment and Jodie’s extensive experience at News Limited reflects our commitment to a customer-centric structure with the ability to tap into our assets across News Magazines, newspaper-inserted magazines (NIMs) and our News Limited assets. This ensures we deliver to our major clients the optimum outcome for their multi-level campaigns across our business.“

In her new role Ms Smith will lead the key accounts and strategic response team and work closely with the national sales group to ensure key clients continue to receive the most innovative, creative and effective sales and marketing opportunities across our market-leading portfolio of magazine and digital brands.

News Magazines’ extensive portfolio of titles and their commitment to further developing super-brands such as taste.com.au and body+soul provide us with a unique opportunity for advertisers to engage and interact with their target audience,” says Ms Smith.

Ms Smith has a solid background in publishing including more than 15 years with News Limited, where she held numerous sales roles. During this time she worked with some of the country’s biggest selling newspapers to deliver advertisers strategic and innovative opportunities. Most recently Ms Smith was the national sales manager, lifestyle for NewsNet and was instrumental in the successful relaunch of body+soul as a multi-platform title across print, online and magazines divisons. She also led the launch of the newspaper extension of taste.com.au across the national newspaper network in a drive to secure new revenue streams.
