Nick Garrett named new CEO of Clemenger Melbourne with Jim Moser to refocus on NZ
One of the world’s most respected creative leaders and CEO of Colenso BBDO Nick Garrett has been named as the CEO of Clemenger BBDO Melbourne in a move which sees executive chairman Jim Moser refocussing on his New Zealand duties.
The move is the latest shakeup for the Melbourne agency since the retirement of stalwart Peter Biggs nearly a year ago, which saw Moser installed as chairman of the Melbourne Group but no CEO being bought in to replace him.
In today’s announcement Clemenger BBDO’s executive chairman Robert Morgan outlined the changes, which see Garrett transition to the Melbourne office from sister Omnicom agency Colenso in Auckland, with Moser moving the other way.
A statement from Morgan said: “These changes reflect our commitment to ‘having the best talent’ in the industry. And, I’m delighted that we are able to promote from within. We are always keen to promote ‘our people first’, to new or expanded roles. We want to give everyone the opportunity to fulfil their aspirations.”
Garrett joined Colenso in 2010 as managing director and was made CEO last year, after spending more than four years as group account director at BMF from 2005.
During his tenure the agency has been one of the most successful in the world winning dozens of creative and effectiveness awards, and was Mumbrella’s Creative Agency of the Year in both 2013 and 2014.
Clems Melbourne boasts clients including Carlton & United Breweries, Mars, Pacific Brands and Australia Post amongst its clients.
More to come.
The release:
Both Colenso BBDO and Clemenger BBDO Melbourne are the best Agencies in their cities and recognised globally as amongst the best in the world.
I am delighted today to announce some changes that will ensure that the excellent leadership of those Agencies is maintained.
Colenso BBDO CEO, Nick Garrett, will move across to Clemenger BBDO Melbourne into the vacant role of CEO.
Scott Coldham currently General Manager of Colenso BBDO will be promoted into the role of Managing Director of Colenso BBDO. Nick will transition his role to Scott while remaining involved in a number of clients Trans-Tasman.
Jim Moser, who has been acting as Chairman of Clemenger BBDO Melbourne, will now refocus on his role as CEO of Clemenger Group New Zealand and, in addition, will take on some Group responsibilities in Melbourne.
The management team in Melbourne of James McGrath as Creative Chairman, Nick Garrett as CEO, Paul McMillan as Managing Director and Paul Rees-Jones as Executive Planning Director are the best in the business in Melbourne.
Likewise at Colenso BBDO, the management team led by Jim Moser as Chairman, Nick Worthington as Creative Chairman, Scott Coldham as Managing Director and Andy McLeish as Planning Director are also the best in Auckland.
These changes reflect our commitment to ‘having the best talent’ in the industry. And, I’m delighted that we are able to promote from within. We are always keen to promote ‘our people first’, to new or expanded roles. We want to give everyone the opportunity to fulfil their aspirations.
These changes will help these already great Agencies continue to get even better.
Good move. Nick has learnt his craft well and deserves the opportunity. He’ll be a formidable opponent. Congratulations Nick.
