Nigel Marsh is leaving his role as chairman of The Leading Edge to become a partner in Simon Corah’s strategy consultancy Growth Mantra.

Marsh, a former founder of D’Arcy Australia and CEO of Leo Burnett Australia, and regional group CEO of Y&R Brands, joined the Enero-owned agency in October 2013, following the departure of Andy Bateman.

Sydney managing director Lee Naylor is set to step in to take over the chairman’s role, which Marsh fulfilled on a part time basis.

Speaking to Mumbrella this afternoon Marsh said the new role was a full time job and a change for him moving into management consultancy, adding: “It’ll be completely full on, and I can’t wait to get stuck in.

“I’ve long admired Simon and done stuff with him in the past, and I really like what he and they do.”

Marsh is a well-known character in adland, having written three books about his time in the industry, and is a co-founder of Earth Hour and the Sydney Skinny race.

Corah, a former CEO of M&C Saatchi Australia, started the Growth Mantra business in 2007 to advise businesses on how to grow ethically.

He said in a statement: “Nigel is one of those unique individuals who has a brilliant strategic brain, is a highly creative thinker and can make things happen, which is exactly what every growing business needs. We look forward to having Nigel on board for the next phase of our growth.”

Marsh starts after the Sydney Skinny on March 1.
