Nine launches live voting platform
Nine is claiming an Australia media first with the introduction of a live voting platform for viewers of this morning’s broadcast of Wide World of Sports.
Using either an iPhone, Android, tablet or PC, users could log on to Vodafone Viewers’ Verdict at wideworldofsports.com.au/vote to take part in on-air discussions.
The voting technology was developed by iPowow, which recently powere the Miss Universe pageant in Brazil – when viewers polled 23.6 million votes in nine minutes.
Nine noted in a press release that only a “limited” version of the Vodafone Viewers’ Verdict was currently available. It will launch in full during Nine’s International Summer of Cricket from December 1. It will also be integrated into Vodafone’s Cricket Live app.
Granted there are some differences in implementation… but with all of the “vote-based” reality television programmes that have existed for a number of years, this is a fairly unimpressive claim.
Yawn

I used this yesterday and could easily see my answer manipulating the vote due to low participation rates. Looking forward to seeing it used in with an active audience.

Hasn’t this already been done? Except last time it was over sms? Nothing exciting if you ask me – unless one of the poll questions are: “are the Australian selectors a bunch of idiots?”
