Nine relaunches online catch-up site Jump-In

Screen Shot 2013-11-06 at 12.00.43 PMThe Nine Network, and its digital division Mi9, have today relaunched catch-up TV service Jump-in with a redesign of its website and an expanded offering.

According to the company the new design and layout has been created to “provide an improved user experience”, and it  has also replaced its old catch-up url catchup.ninemsn.com.au with the brand Jump-In, across all its properties.

Jump-In is Nine’s catch-up TV app and these changes bring Nine in line with a crowded market of catch up services which includes the ABC’s iView, Seven’s Plus7, Ten’s tenplay, SBS OnDemand and Foxtel’s Go.

Australia’s television networks are increasingly focusing on the lucrative online viewing market, as consumers shift their viewing from scheduled broadcast to online. The moves also come at the television sector and key networks prepare the ground work for the HBBTV platform which will see all TV content available online.

“Australians love the opportunity to catch up on their favourite television shows and jump-in.com.au is the perfect place to do this. From Big Brother to The Big Bang Theory, 2 Broke Girls to Australia’s Got Talent, fans will be rewarded with the latest episodes available in one place,” Andrew Backwell, Director of Programming, Nine Network, said in a statement.

Nine said the expanded offering would also include new episodes from Australian and overseas programs from its digital channels Gem and GO! as well as complete series of old television series such as Sea Patrol and McLeod’s Daughters.

“This is the next phase in the continued evolution of Jump-in. Available on any desktop or laptop browser, tablet or smartphone device, jump-in.com.au is the ultimate destination for all Nine, Gem and Go shows. We look forward to announcing more features in the coming months,” Tim Parsons, Director of Product Innovation, Mi9, said.

Just last month rival Ten relaunched its catch-up TV service Ten Play and has seen a lift in video traffic as a result.
