Nine wins night despite local drama series House Husbands shedding 152,000 viewers

house husbandsNine’s local drama series House Husbands shed 152,000 viewers last night with its audience tumbling to 661,000 metro viewers in the 9pm timeslot after pulling in 813,000 last week.

In timeshifted viewing, last week’s episode of the drama series picked up an extra 166,00 viewers to take its total audience to 973,000.

Earlier in the evening Ten’s The Great Australian Spelling Bee held steady pulling in 665,000 metro viewers in the 7.30pm timeslot, slightly up on last week’s audience of 662,000, as Seven’s Highway Patrol won the timeslot with an audience of 872,000.

The children’s spelling contest was also out-rated by Nine’s The Hotplate which was watched by 852,000 on a night when no program, outside of news and current affairs managed to top the million mark.

Looking at the demographics Highway Patrol was the most-watched show amongst viewers aged 16-39 while The Hotplate grabbed the most viewers amongst those aged 25-54.

Ten’s Have You Been Paying Attention, airing at 8.30pm, was the most-watched amongst viewers aged 18-49 and was watched by 643,000 metro viewers.

Also in the 8.30pm timeslot, Seven’s Ramsay’s Hotel Hell was watched by 560,000.

Nine won the night, thanks to Nine News pulling in 1.132m at 6pm and 1.108m at 6.30pm and A Current Affair delivering 1.031m at 7pm, with a share of 20 per cent.

Seven came in at second place with a share of 17.1 per cent with the ABC claiming third place with a share of 16.3 per cent. Ten settled for a share of 13.3 per cent.

However when secondary channels are accounted for, Seven won the night with an overall share of 26.6 per cent, thanks to 7Two’s share of 5.2 per cent, ahead of Nine’s overall share of 25.5 per cent.

On the ABC, 7.30 was watched by 808,000, Australian Story (8pm) grabbed 850,000, Four Corners (8.30pm) had 749,000 metro viewers, Media Watch (9.20pm) was watched by 721,000 and Q&A (9.30pm) pulled in 579,000.

Seven News pulled in 999,000 metro viewers at 6pm, sliding to 982,000 from 6.30pm.
