Nova Boy, brought to you by Kyle
It’s always good to see when rival radio stations can play nicely together.
So it warmed Dr Mumbo’s cockles to see Nova branding on an ad sitting at the top of the home page of the Today Network’s Kyle & Jackie O Show homepage.
Curiously, in recent minutes, it seems to have been replaced by a house ad. Dr Mumbo wonders why ever that might be.
Well they are getting desperate! Over 140 companies have now withdrawn their finanical backing. The last few days the only ads I’ve seen on the Kyle & Jackie O homepage have been ads advertising radio advertising.

Kate you are quite gullible. There is a network called adconian that buys unsold inventory from a large suite of sites globally and then match up that site to the appropriate demographic.
Further to this, you’ve stated 140 companies have withdrawn their financial backing. I was just wondering if you have ever heard of advertising flighting and that it could be co-incidental that they have said they have stopped advertising on SCA yet their campaign could have ended a week earlier
If SCA are struggling, why are they the #1 revenue network in Australia for radio?
By the way I don’t work for SCA

Hey Paul,
No we are not including companies whose campaigns have ended. For example Fountain Sauce began advertising this week, due to feedback they have had this removed. We at the online Sack Vile Kyle campaign ONLY include the names of companies who have actively withdrawn their $$
Re their revenue – it really depends on how much spin you are willing to believe, doesn’t it 😉

Hey KAte
Thanks for the update…Is the revenue withdrawn across the entire SCA network or just K&J?

No advertising on their site for a few months now speaks for itself.

That is a google placed ad – see the logo top right hand corner of the ad. Austereo must be taking Goog/Dblclick ads with their remnant. Does not look at all like a direct buy with Austereo.
Also – this is a promoter campaign not a Nova one. It’s not like Nova booked this. They are a logo placement in one frame and the screengrab is very clever.

Interesting logic there. Their sponsors have had a number of ads removed when asked. Here’s a revelation for you all: advertisers can CHOOSE where there ads are shown *on the Internet*.
I’m sure there are plenty of places they can restrict their ads from being shown. A few come to mind: Storm Front (or any other neo-Nazi website) and porn sites. I’m sure with a little imagination you can think of a few other websites that they can prevent their brand from being shown on.
Also: FYI – these aren’t done by Google. They are done directly by Austereo – one of the sponsors was told how remarkably difficult it is to prevent ads from being shown on their site. Nonetheless, it was done for them.

The same thing happened in December with an ARN logo.
