OMD appoints The Monkeys’ Mat Rawnsley as group strategy head for Sydney

Mat RawnsleyOMD has appointed The Monkeys’ Mat Rawnsley as group strategy head for the Sydney office.

Rawnsley joins the media agency after nearly three-and-a-half years at The Monkeys where he led media and channel planning, including the media strategy/planning/buying on Boost Mobile’s Stay Living campaign which picked up the Grand Prix at last night’s MFA Awards.

Gavin Gibson, OMD national head of strategy, said: “We are very excited to welcome a strategic powerhouse like Mat Rawnsley back into to the OMD family. Mat harbours all the skills and expertise necessary to continue driving the industry forward with truly innovative work.”

Previously Rawnsley has worked across DDB, Clemenger BBDO, KWP and Naked.

He said in a statement: “The past few years at The Monkeys was a top ride, but I’m seriously looking forward to the very different opportunities that a big but progressive media agency like OMD has to offer. They’ve got a compelling client list, they’re nice people, and they’re set up to do great work”.

Rawnsley will report to Gavin Gibson.

His appointment is effective immediately.
