OMD Brisbane wins Michael Hill

michael hillMedia agency OMD has picked up the $7m account of Brisbane-based jeweller Michael Hill signalling a parting of the ways with 12 year incumbent UM.

The three month pitch – which featured OMD, UM and two other Brisbane media agencies – was led by The Agency Register.

Michael Hill’s group marketing executive Sue Szylvester said: “In the advertising game it’s rare to establish a partnership of that duration, and our lengthy association reflects just how successful the relationship has been. We are highly appreciative of UM’s great work, talent and their strong commitment to our business.

“As a global business head-quartered in Brisbane with a presence in four countries, we wanted to ensure that we have an insights-driven media agency who not only has strong local media performance but also global awareness of the utility of multi-platform media solutions.”

“We look forward to developing a new long-term partnership with OMD during what will be a significant phase of development for the Michael Hill business over the next decade.”

  6. Why would Mitchell’s and The Circus compete against each other when they are both owned by Aegis?

  10. @ Don’t Understand – I’m guessing you’re new to business.

If there are 3 agencies pitching, I being owned by Aegis. You have a 33.3% chance of winning.

If there are 4 agencies pitching, 2 being owned by Aegis, You have a 50% change of winning.

Remeber, the money, ultimately, goes back to head office. They don’t care which office it comes from.
