OMD Melbourne wins $4m Red Cross Blood service from Ikon Communications

red-bloodOMD Melbourne have won the media strategy, planning and buying for the Australian Red Cross Blood Service from Ikon Communications.

Mumbrella revealed the competitive pitch in January, with the Melbourne based organisation known to be talking to a number of media agencies about the account, thought to be worth around $2m-$4m annually.

Ben Scales, national campaign manager, Australian Red Cross Blood Service said in a statement: “It was a very competitive pitch, in which all participating agencies presented very strong offerings. However OMD clearly demonstrated to us that they understood the future needs of our business. 

“We are very excited to be working with OMD to recruit more blood donors to our cause in the years ahead.”

Margie Reid, managing Director, OMD Melbourne said she was pleased with the win.

“The Australian Red Cross Blood Service is an organisation that we have long wanted to partner with,” she said. “They play such an important role in Australia’s society and we are very excited to begin working with their amazing team of marketers.”

In February of this year The Australian Red Cross Blood Service appointed Cummins & Partners as its creative agency following a pitch.
