Horginem?

There’s a bit of tension between creative and media agencies at the moment around content creation, and who can do it best.

It seems OMD has staked its claim in the content space on its YouTube channel, and its breakout star is CEO Peter Horgan.

The boss of $1.2bn-billing media agency has starred in this YouTube video introducing what Dr Mumbo presumes is a new award, humbly named after himself, “The Horgies”.

Dr Mumbo reckons with rap lyrics like:

“This album is dedicated to all the Mad Men who told me I’d never amount to nothin’.

“It was really all a dream. I used to read AdNews magazine.” (We presume you couldn’t find anything to rhyme with Mumbrella, Horgs…).

“Harold Mitchell and Kerry Packer riding in their limousine. Hanging pictures of negotiations on wall, keeping those left media vendors in awe.”

Horgs is sure to be a rap sensation. You can watch the full video below (Horgan comes in 30 seconds in):

For the record Dr Mumbo blames MEC boss Peter Vogel and his Harlem Shake for sparking this trend

However, OMD is not a one-trick pony, and Dr Mumbo was also intrigued to watch a guided tour courtesy of OMD Melbourne and its team of “renegades”.

The seven minute video has many highlights including: a tour of OMD Melbourne by “a stereotypical Melbourne hipster host”,  a tour of OMD’s five core values, followed by a further tour of the people in the office by a new presenter bought in to please a different demographic, who is not a hipster.

But again its Horgs who steals the show, despite not featuring on camera. Five minutes in the presenter is speaking on the phone and says: “So I said to the guy keep the five bucks it’s your wife anyway. I’ll call you back Horgs.”

Clearly a CEO who is popular with his team.

March 2 update: Sadly for posterity, the videos have now been removed from YouTube.
